Should We Continue to Sin That Grace May Abound?
This meditation is based on a passage for June 26, 2010 in the Daily Lectionary Year 2 from the Book of Common Worship for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (1993).
Text: Romans 6:1-11
Reflection and Question: Should we continue to sin that grace may abound?
“By no means!” cries Paul, in answer to his own question. With Paul, we trust that we are dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. And this is true for GLBT Christians, whose service in the church and in their communities make them instruments of God’s love. Like all Christians, the GLBT faithful are renewed in life through Christ. Their loving relationships are fully blessed and completely harmonious with their walk with Christ How are you dead to sin and alive in Christ Jesus?
Prayer: Eternal God, our only comfort in life and in death is that we belong to Jesus who has fully paid for our sins and assures us of everlasting life. Unite us, we pray, in Jesus’ death and resurrection so that the life we live we live only to You. Amen.
